Manager, Market Research

The Manager of Marketing Research and Analytics is responsible for developing and refining promotional research and statistical analysis capabilities for CMI Media Group and Compas. The ideal candidate will develop and manage a team of research and analytics experts to execute our current suite of marketing research and analytics offerings as well as contribute to the development of new ones.


  • Management and oversight of the primary marketing research team, with efforts focused on growth, excellence and thought leadership resulting from our syndicated and custom research studies and promotional analytics obtained from secondary data as well as qualitative insight from social listening
  • Oversee execution of custom and syndicated research study including but not limited to solicitation of questionnaire input from key internal stakeholders, questionnaire design/development, deployment of survey, aggregation of results, management of integration of data and reporting on results both internally and externally
  • Educate internal media teams on the appropriate research design to effectively address client needs
  • Assist and contribute to industry reports, POVs and speaker opportunities
  • Identify and implement approved research approaches to inform brand positioning, segmentation, and content analysis
  • Manage the full scope of research projects from start to finish (design and oversight of research questionnaires, , back-end analysis, reporting and customer deliverables)
  • Communicate with clients to understand, interpret and document their research objectives
  • Select the most appropriate research methodologies and techniques to meet client needs
  • Contribute to the ideation, packaging and/or productization of market, marketing, advertising and analytics offerings applicable to the business needs of our clients
  • Ensure team is collecting, reporting, and analyzing data on customer promotional attitudes, preferences, needs, and habits and disseminate insights within and outside the organization
  • Understand internal data sources, secondary data, quantitative / qualitative data and how it can be applied to effectively address research questions and leverage in results
  • Interpret data, write reports, and make actionable recommendations
  • Evaluate current trends and tools in market research and make change recommendations to leadership for internal tools, as necessary
  • Proactively communicate the value of market research and statistical products and services to internal and external stakeholders
  • Present market research and statistical capabilities to client as needed
  • Manage the continual evolution of client deliverables through in-depth knowledge of custom market research, syndicated research, secondary data, social platform qualitative analysis , and continue to uncover unique opportunities for clients, with an eye on innovation
  • Serve as a Mentor to analyst within the department
  • Assist in refining training modules & materials necessary to train staff and/or other departments
  • Assist in training internal staff on research offerings and work across departments to ensure that the needs of parallel departments are met by current (and future) products and services
  • Supervise departmental staff and maintain quality control of work produced by team members
  • Build career development plans for staff and ensure that plans are executed
  • Track performance of staff against yearly and quarterly goals
  • Complete yearly performance reviews of staff members
  • Monitor and Optimize team workflows


  • Bachelors or advanced degree in business, mathematics, or related field
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience conducting quantitative primary research, including planning objectives, selecting methodology, developing questionnaire’s, conducting analysis , reporting and presenting results
  • Demonstrated ability to understand and interpret data from multiple sources (quantitative, qualitative, secondary, syndicated, etc.)
  • Minimum 3 years of market research experience in the pharmaceutical industry
  • Experience managing and supervising staff
  • Practical experience across a wide array of new product, brand, advertising and customer satisfaction research methodologies
  • Experience executing or managing both HCP and patient / consumer research studies
  • Experience analyzing secondary consumer data sources
  • Exceptional written and oral communication abilities
  • Strong analytic skills
  • Strong knowledge of basic statistical methods
  • Strong understanding of quantitative research techniques and methodologies
  • Proficient with Excel, PowerPoint, and automated survey tools
  • Proficient with SAS
  • Working knowledge of survey software tools, such as Qualtrics
