Vice President, Data Strategy

The Vice President, Data Strategy is responsible for leadership and management of CMI Media Group and Compas’ data partnership strategy as it relates to audience insights, media activation, omnichannel orchestration, measurement, and optimization.  The VP, Data Strategy works with internal departments and stakeholders (Product Management, Advanced Analytics, Media, etc) to develop integrations and/or partnerships with a network of external providers to serve the needs of their business.  This person also helps shape our larger organizational Product Strategy vision and plays a leading role in technical client discussions; offering key insights and recommendations on mutually beneficial data partnerships.


  • Responsible for data strategy in support of owned products, omni channel orchestration, client consulting, and media planning and activation
  • Works closely with internal stakeholders across departments to develop data oriented solutions to their short and long term business growth and innovation needs
  • Closely monitor industry-wide trends in how data is used for competitive advantage in MarTech and AdTech stacks.
  • Identify market opportunities and define strategy through a key set of roadmap deliverables
  • Work closely with Product Development and Product Management teams to onboard partners and embed them into systems and processes across the organization
  • Ensures we are proactively monitoring, engaging with, and leveraging best-in-class DMP, DSP, SSP, Clean Room providers, ID Graph, cookieles solution providers, and any other data-related entities emerging in the advertising marketplace
  • Leads as Subject Matter Expert (SME) on data strategy in client discussions, including consulting on systems and datasets that may help support client used technology
  • Defines the evolving data strategy for partnerships in delivering omni channel media solutions to clients for all customer types
  • Collaborate with WPP partners on omni channel solutions and novel collaborative projects in support of clients or in developing novel systems
  • Responsible for staying ahead of any and all pharma-specific and general privacy rules, regulations and even societal norms in both the US and EU/xUS
  • Participate in new business pitches as subject matter expert
  • Facilitate training of new partnerships and integrations, working closely with the training team to rapidly scale adoption across the agency
  • Author POVs and white-papers that combine insights on market trends
  • Work closely with the Technology and Data leadership teams to define short and long term departmental vision
  • Build career development plans for direct reports and ensure that all team members have actionable development plans
  • Track performance of staff against goals and regularly provide coaching for excellence
  • Complete yearly performance reviews of staff members
  • Lead initiatives to monitor, analyze and improve core system performance, accuracy and efficiency
  • Performs preliminary analyses of prospective partners to determine applicability to CMI and Compas client needs, which includes hands-on manipulation, summary reporting, and final assessments


10+ years of experience working with data in the MarTech and/or AdTech space, preferably in a variety of industries

5-7 years of Supervisory experience in a data setting

• Bachelor’s degree or work experience equivalent

Must have a background in data strategy

5+ years of hands-on experience with DMPs, CDPs, clean rooms, and data matching platforms

• Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Access and PowerPoint

• Working knowledge of SQL preferred

• Familiarity with Business Intelligence tools such as Datorama

Excellent written and communication skills

• Entrepreneurial orientation and spirit

Willingness to learn and adapt to a changing environment
